Interview Berthold Riese - higher academic career

This conversation with Professor em. Berthold Riese took place on December 3, 2007 at the Institute for Ancient America Studies and Ethnology at Bonn University.
 
As the child of Anglicist parents, Prof. Riese developed his interest in archaeology and ancient cultures in early years. He tells us about his studies of ancient America and anthropology in Heidelberg and Hamburg in the 1960s and about his subsequent research and work life between Germany, France, and the Americas. Reflecting on the development of the discipline during the last decades, Prof. Riese talks about the special place of Ancient America Studies in Germany and about its relation to the study of anthropology. He also tells about a special project of his, the biographical archive of anthropology (Biographisches Archiv zur Anthropologie) at Bonn University.
