Eisen was born ion 29.4.1896 in Nikolajken/East Prussia. He deceased 12.3.1980 in Leipzig.
studied Völkerkunde with Fritz Krause in Leipzig. From 1931 to 1933 he was member of the Gesellschaft für Völkerkunde.
After his return from exile in the UK (Eisen was jewish), he became became director of the Leipziger Department für Völkerkunde in 1945. He lost this position in 1948 and was demoted to work in the University Library.
