Fabarius was born 15. Sept. 1859 in Saarlouis. He studied theologyy, national economy, state sciences, geography and history ib Bonn, Berlin, Tübingen and Halle. Amongst his teachers  were Adolf Wagner and Heinrich von Trreitschke.

1891 he became military preacher in Koblenz. One year late, he married. Whilst in Koblenz, he became secretary of the Rheinischer Verband des Evengelischen Afrika-Vereins, also sexetary of the Deutsche Kolonialgesellschaft (Div. Koblenz).

In march 1899 he moved to Witzenhausen, where he became founding diector of the Deutsche Kolonialschule, esp. for colonial economy, ethnology (Völkerkunde), cultural and colonial history. 1906 he was appointed professor.

Between April and June 1906 Fabarius undertook his only voyage to german colonies (Deutsch-Südwest Afrika).

Fabarius passed away on 28 Oct. 1928 in Witzenhausen.
