Andreas Lommel

Andreas Lommel was born in Munich in 1912. He graduated at the Institute for Cultural Morphology (now: Frobenius Institute) in Frankfurt/Main in 1937. Between 1937 and 1940 Lommel held an assistant position at the institute.

Since 1957 Lommel was head of the Munich State Museum of Ethnology. His scientific interest not only was concerned with the Aboriginal people of Australia but also with Art and Material Culture.

Andreas Lommel died in 2005.
